Lightning Launcher is extremely flexible, but not anything is possible. MAYBE you could use scripts to add it in, but it needs the Google Now API which Google provided to work, thus probably needing to be a built in feature.
For launching Google app, that would be possible. Set the launch action to Slide Right, then make swiping right open Google. It’s not perfect but simple.
All I can think of is to download Edge Gestures (1.49) and make swiping left close the current app, and blacklist it to only work on the Google app. If it works correctly, it will do the slide left animation to close, since it was opened via Lightning. If it doesn’t work, you can easily refund the app via the Play Store.

It would be an option, if Pierre finally comes back. Nobody’s heard from him for a while.

Everything is possible with LLx.
So I don’t think anything needed.
A slide for launching google app seems ok, right ?

I have the swipe right set to open Google now but this integration would allow a swipe left to return back to lightning launcher.

Alex Selene that’s a good idea but I’m really hoping Pierre might see this and allow use of the Google now API
