As I already said here (https://plus.google.com/115366157037831519359/posts/7s8cfsctRx8) I’d prefer a grey Topbar in menu, like the System Menu. Now I created two pics to show you what I mean (and for comparison the current view).

What do you think?

I do like it better with a different solid color than the body of the menu. That said with the upcoming material design that Android will be getting I wonder if Pierre has plans to tweak the menus. His to do list is very very long I’m sure lol.

I will suggest to add the three dots menu with some links like:

Reminder: that will open a pop-up with the text “long click any setting to open specific help”

Main help page: will open the main page of the help ( http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/help/topic.php?id=0&v=200&lang=lightning_launcher_extreme)

    Wiki: will open…the wiki

Community: if possible will open the Google+ app to the new users community (or this one). Otherwise just the browser.

And perhaps a ‘general settings’ link to go directly to that settings and change things faster than need to close that setting, go to lightning settings, general (perhaps with a text ‘expert mode off/on’ or something).

Pierre Hébert just ideas, you don’t need to add all links, but it will help I think.

TrianguloY do you mean… a menu in a menu?

    Emmmm…no.

Replace ‘submenus’ with ‘links’ (I already did that)

Just the normal ‘three dots menu’ with some links (no submenus, sorry)

Hmmm, perhaps, another solution will be to use the same (or different) setting as in the app drawer: custom background.

If in the app drawer you choose a grey picture from the android files, it is the same as what we want (except for the blue shader when clicking)

(Thanks Josh Gray 😛 that’s what I meant, and also gave me this idea)

I like the idea of the overflow menu,, especially the expert mode checkbox which is not visible enough at its current position. I would even push it as an always visible button.

    BUT…

The action bar is system specific. Its appearance depends on the Android version, manufacturer theme and so on (on my sony it is grey, on a Samsung it is another plain color, on a Google device you will get the blue line, etc. And… there is no action bar on Android 2.x devices (and I know what josh will reply 😉 ).

In the case of the app drawer, the AB is a custom one but is not transposable to the customize screen, which has (internally) a special design.

That said, I would really like to redesign this screen, but that’s probably not for now.

    One moment Pierre Hébert

In android 2.X there is no action bar…but they have the menu button and if I remember correctly those menus are automatically shown in a window at the bottom when pressing the menu button.

I mean: that don’t really need to be a problem.
