I know there are better places to ask, but I was curious about any lesser-known apps or widgets you all use.

I know there are better places to ask, but I was curious about any lesser-known apps or widgets you all use.

I also have a bunch of questions below about things I can’t figure out our discover any workarounds.

A.  Has anyone found a widget or way to make a scrollable wheel formation? Like a dial of apps circling like a wheel?

B.  Has anyone found a widget or way to make apps appear on finger press/swipe and select on finger release?  Best example is the Start Lockscreen or swipepad/glove box.

C.  Does anyone know how to make zooper or tasker scenes cycle through the color spectrum. Another option may be to crop and place live wallpapers in the frontmost wallpaper placeholder but it seems as though gifs may be the only option I can find for animating only part of a screen.

D.  I know I can make things happen “on swipe” from tasker or LLX,  but I like when items drag rather than a triggered sequence of events. The drag/scrolling question is an issue I run into constantly. Such as finding a way to seemlessly diagonal scroll in LLX. Since stop points/desktops don’t rotate, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to drag and scroll diagonally without getting of the track every once in a while. Panels are currently bugged when rotated for many of us, so that is not an option.

I’ll share some of my widgets and little customization quirks I’ve found if there is any interest in the post.

Cool. I can’t believe I’ve never seen that. It is nearly a 5 star app with over a million downloads. I’ll have to test it out. Thanks Curtis Sylvester Jr.

For point B have you tried Pie Control? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrol

I’d like to try and script what you said on point A but can’t understand what you want exactly.

I have been messing around with LMT pie controls for a while now.  It’s a better, yet rooted, pie control.  But I am looking for something more like Dynamic Notifications or Start Lockscreen. You press down, bunch of stuff is revealed around your finger that was previously invisible, and you drag to your selection. Like a folder but with one press to open and select your app.

The wheel I’m imagining would look like this: http://mycolorscreen.com/2013/01/24/color-wheel-2/

I just did a quick search for any dial or wheel. Ideally part of it may be hidden and then as your swipe/drag it,  it moves in a circle.  Just like how panels reveal items when scrolled. But instead of vertical and horizontal, it cycles clockwise or counterclockwise.

Jacob Lavender I can do that but there are a few limitations atm.

I can display/hide the wheel on tap, double tap or any other gesture. You will need to tap again to launch an app.

I can rotate the wheel when you scroll the container (the wheel will be pinned).

I think I can hide some items but haven’t tried it yet.

It’s very late (or very early) now, can you wait for the script until tomorrow (8 hours)?

Thank you for the response first off. The tap to show, tap to hide combination is something I can do.  I know Circle Launcher does that in a variety of animations.

Don’t put yourself out for my sake. Get some sleep – haha. I have requested access to the document whenever you get a chance. How do you plan on rotating the wheel though!? I’m so curious!

Jacob Lavender I plan to modify the script “Put desktop shortcuts in a circle” I posted on the wiki: http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/wiki/doku.php?id=script_repository

I gave access to the photo to everyone with the link, sorry about that, the Google drive application is useless for changing permissions.

Bogdan Tautu which is part of why I use BOX. Google drive seems more like personal storage rather than a upload-and-share bank. and with box I am currently getting 50gb storage.

Bogdan Tautu I modified your script days ago, and the main problem you will find is to make the desktop to scroll (you’ll need to place dummy items at the sides)

I’ll will post it later if you want (I didn’t do because it’s your script modified, I’ll only do it if I get your permission)

TrianguloY I made the script myself but can’t get it to not crash the launcher.

Please use any code I post, anytime, It’s on the wiki to give people ideas and a starting point.

I also used dummy shortcuts to have the page scroll, but I can’t test the script more than 5 minutes at a time and it’s frustrating.

PS the motion of the wheel is not smooth.

sorry to jump in… have you all tried circle launcher? It is displayed as an icon on the desktop. When you tap on it, it expands (circle or linear) to icons or text for apps, contacts or bookmarks. I have five icons on my desktop (llx of course) so I can get to my fav apps/ contacts fast.

I check in on circle launcher every once in a while. My two issues with it:

    1. You can’t have it open and touch any other icons on the screen. It’s a floating overlay that covers the screen.

    2. It still takes two taps. Same as any llx folder. I want it to work with one tap-drag-release.

Have you got it to work like that? That would be great if so!

Thanks for jumping in by the way! We need to make this post at least 100 comments!

how about the wave launcher by mobilemerit… it’s not a circle but a curve and the current app is still active.  It looks versatile and popups widgets and folders.  I haven’t tried it just found it on quick search. $1.99 for the app.

Very nice. I’ll have to look a at it again. I crossed it off my list due to lack of updates, but that’s been a while since I’ve checked. Any apps you are particularly fond of to share?

pearltrees….it actually is what set me on the journey to look for a home screen like llx.  It is basically other people internet bookmarks that they share. The format is what gets my attention.  It’s one page and as you scroll more pop up along the topic spectrum. One big page like llx.
