I am a new LL user and noticed a problem that I cant figure out.  When I go to add a widget, my list of widgets comes up with no text, only icons.  If I touch a widget, the text shows for that widget ONLY.  Some of the widgets have 10-15 options so it is hard to figure out which one is which.  If I am careful I can touch one and scroll and it shows the text without actually creating the widget…but more often then not it creates a widget I don’t want.  How do you get the text/labels to show in the widget selector?

That’s something with the theme of android…are you root? (If you don’t know what ‘root’ is, you probably won’t be)

What phone/android version do you have?

I guess that would have helped….Android 4.04 on a Motorola Atrix 2.  I am rooted.

So probably the issue is that the theme you are using is not fully adapted…or LL don’t take it well…not sure what to do.

Oh, I remember a similar problem with another app, what I did is long press an item, read the description, and then scroll to not take it. That’s all I can help.

So it is possibly the LL theme?  I am still trying to figure those out…I’ll try another.

Yeah CM Themes are usually the cause of this ran into it myself a few times, and can confirm long pressing made the text readable.

    Drew Schofield: not exactly.

Are you sure you have problems with LL only? I’m almost sure that, if you use another app with a similar list it will happen the same. I don’t know much about root, but sometimes custom themes are not well adapted to android in general, the problem is that sometimes you only notice it with specific apps.

LL is not the problem (and it’s a wonderful launcher 😉 but it’s your decision to use it or not.

Right now you can’t change LL theme, you’ll need to change the theme of the custom Rom…but only if you know what you are doing (root is powerful, but with caution)

Uf, what a long post, sorry.

I just have root access…I am still running the stock 4.04 ICS ROM from AT&T.  I’ve loaded custom ROMs on other phones in the past, but I haven’t bothered with this one.

Any tips to try to resolve it?  Not that it’s a big deal, but more of an annoyance.

I guess hold and peck will have to do until I feel like trying a custom ROM or buy a new phone.

Install the Xposed framework and get the Xblast Tools module then open the app and choose your colors reboot and enjoy

I confirm this is a small but annoying bug in the built-in android theme. This was due to the shift to holo. The only solution is to modify the framework resources, one way or the other.
