Jeff Ludlow 6 weeks?!? Holy cow, Im not sure if I should be amazed or ashamed! Haha. Well if I may, can I suggest giving illustrator a shot? I love illustrator. I think someone with your talent could do some amazing work with illustrator. One of the coolest features is “trace”. You can take a hand drawn sketch, text, or a photo and convert it to a vector.

This icon is one of my preferred one and although this is only three bars, I still see some kind of bolt in them. Maybe because I obviously know the name of the app, maybe not. And I like the simplicity of this design.
If I am going to ditch the “eXtreme” part in the app’s name, then what about removing it in the icon and adding the bracket around the “bolt”? Maybe white brackets ? Or even without bracket.

Pierre Hébert I definitely agree. I’ve liked just about everything I’ve seen, but this takes it to the next level. You could use this design for years to come. It’s very iconic. Plus it fills all of the requirements without stepping on anyone else’s toes.
