I’m a new Lightning user looking to get past the limitations of Nova, but I think I’m in over my head. Not looking for anything crazy advanced, but I would like to be able to drop icons on the home screen without the limitations of grid snapping. Is this possible?

I’d also love to check out some other free themes that really showcase this launcher… Can they be reverse engineered so I can teach myself more about the launcher?

Would really love to hear back with some protips! Thanks in advance.

  1. 1) Settings, desktop, layout, Detach by default

    2) yes, probably

More specific questions will get more specific answers!

Make Google & YouTube your friends. A lot of things are available there already.

Also you can go through the posts in this & ‘Lightning Launcher’ community. Someone might have already posted an answer to your issues.

  3. To question 1 – as Chris said, yes. You can also detach/re attach individual items by long clicking and going to the item properties.

2 – absolutely! Check out any of the “Share your home screen” posts in this community, and people tend to be flattered to answer how they made things work.

I don’t mind dealing with questions that have already been answered, sometimes they are hard to track down. I started from scratch with no idea what I was doing. I still haven’t learned much about the scripts yet but for help just long press on a setting and it will open a link in your browser also. Welcome to the club. Just mess with it in your free time – you will get the hang of it and feel like a graphic designer in no time! Totally worth the money also, and no I am not sponsored lol.

klear6 I’ve come quite a way since this post. No need for scripts just yet, but I’ll cross that bridge when the prefabs no longer suit my needs. When I’m done, I’m gonna post what I’ve got and let you guys pick it apart because I’m sure it’s full of bad practices and feaux-pas.
