What I did with Lightning Launcher. The homescreen is all pinned, and the favorites bar slides in from the left. Swipe up from the Hangouts (which is my SMS app too) button and you get Google Now, swipe down and you get all apps.
I m pretty new to LL. I wanted to do something like this but I cannot figure out how to do this. I would like to be able to swipe right on the desktop and a sidebar slides on to the screen where I have a list of apps (something like Windows Start Button but with a slide in type of animation). Is that possible ?
You can do it with a folder and a gesture to own the folder, or you can do like I did here and put them on a separate screen (to the left in this case).
Really, you have to take some time and play with it, and you will be amazed say what is possible
