I wanted to setup an unread email count badge, but not found solution.

I wanted to setup an unread email count badge, but not found solution.

But I have also Gmail, so I added Badge to desktop – then customize item – then properties, then I switched to “Data” menu, and there choose ” text to display” and then “Unread Gmail count”. As soon as value changed/snaped , the 0 inside the red box vanish.

Trying to choose” Gmail label”, but the is no Gmail label inside. Empty.

I thought hm, may be it work like that, so I wrote myself some email to Gmail, but badge display still nothing.

How is setup process to get badges, or counts generally to work?

I am on S4 i9505 on Lollipop 5.0.1.

Friendly greetings. Also wrote email to Pierre but no answer.

  1. Try resizing the badge to be larger. I just tried this and saw the 0 vanish. Turns out I had 20 unread messages and for whatever reason the way that the text renders, nothing shows in the tiny default sized box, not even the first digit.

Skyler Kehren no, that doesn’t help either, with all other “data” like Storage, battery level numbers are shown (indeed only after making badge bigger), but as soon as i choose ” unread Gmail count” number go away, and nothing displayed even after making badge screen big.. I am lost.

Do you have more than one gmail account?

Currently it only shows the unread emails from only one account (although not sure which one). This will be fixed on next version.

Also, if you don’t want the 0 to be set to invisible and have it displayed too, uncheck the ‘display when empty’

TrianguloY Hi, after today Google app update, seems Gmail count mail display the right number of emails. Maybe Google bug. At your side All was working? Do you use Samsung?

To your question – No, just one account. And i thought that “display when empty” means ” display number even if your inbox is empty=display 0.

  5. TrianguloY says:

Eh….ouch, I wrote it at the opposite. You need to check the ‘display when empty’ to show it even when it is 0

    Sorry for the confusion 😓
