Upon adding the widget, I went through its configuration page with default values. I ensured that it is NOT hidden whenever music is not playing. Then I hit the Done button and expected it to show on my desktop. Nothing. I checked the Items > Hierarchy. Nothing. Tried on different screens, desktops, panels. Nope.

Tried clearing MU’s data… uninstalling MU… No.

It worked exactly once after I cleared data on LLX recently. But it doesn’t work any more (the widget showed the “not configured” or whatever message). I deleted the widget from the desktop. Now I’m back in the same boat.

Just tried it with the Apex launcher. Works fine

This is not specific to the recent releases. Tried this months ago too

I don’t use it myself but I believe other users are using it. Which device and Android version do you have ?

May be a bit unrelated, but here are my two cents: Don’t use Media Utitlities. It doesn’t get updated anymore and may cause serious memory leaks on kitkat devices.

Regarding your problem: Do you  use other widgets parallel? LL isn’t best at manging widgets (maybe its only weakness). If you have too many it will run OOM.

I used Media Utilities about 1 1/2 years ago with LLH and it worked fine, but there was a big process in between…

Oh and I should mention that I did acknowledge any permissions dialogs that would have popped up allowing LLX and MU to share data (or whatever that dialog says)

Lukas Morawietz I have a couple of other widgets running. But that being said, I just wiped LLX data. With a clean slate, couldn’t ever get the widget to show. I’ll take your advice and discontinue MU!

Josh Horner If you are only looking for widgets, these are some, which i liked (I am not using music widgets anymore):

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jackthakar.musicwidget&hl=de

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voiche.universalmusicwidget&hl=de

But if possible it is always best to use the widgets provided by your music player.

Am using latesr beta. Works. Trick was to check everything at the bottom under Experimental Features. Direct Control, Alternative Collection etc. Works at least with Audible and Google Music. Power Amp does not work anymore AFAIK

I’m actually using it currently. Works ok for now, but it normally quits at one time or another… Won’t refresh, etc. I would suggest that Lukas Morawietz advice is good. Media utilities would be great in theory, but it’s just too buggy.

What’s crazy is Media Utilities is built into Zooper and there are so many Zooper widgets created and used that require MU still. I have the same frustration with MU not always updating and not showing artwork.

Tyler Buckner, I just finally uninstalled Zooper today. It’s nice, but I simply can’t abide a widget app that takes up as much (or more) ram than the launcher, even when no Zooper widgets are in use. I’m about to try the Universal music widget that Lukas mentioned.
