Every time I try to add a dynamic text showing unread G-mails on my homescreen, LL just displays the current date.
Every time I try to add a dynamic text showing unread G-mails on my homescreen, LL just displays the current date.
In the section for the G-mail label to choose, there is none showing up, just a „cancel“ button.
Any idea, what I’d be doing wrong?

Strange, should work. Are you sure you have at least one Google Account setup in your mobile settings?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Yes. I receive a lot of mails every day on my mobile. That’s why I want LL to display the unread ones.

I have 3 Google accounts on my Mobile and all are displaying fine.
Sorry, I know these are trivial, but have you tried the whole reboot thing, and disabling LL and then Re-enabling it. (Don’t forget to Backup first)
What version of LL do you have?
(mine is v14.1.2 (r2879)
Just to confirm your process…
1) Click on Desktop,
2) Add
3) “Dynamic Text”
4) “Text to Display” = Unread GMail count
5) “Gmail Label” = Your Gmail account

Could you check that the gmail app is up to date, or maybe check that permissions are correctly set if you are running Android 6+? There’s one permission needed (android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS), I don’t know how it is displayed in the app info screen (or whether it is even displayed), maybe related to “accounts” or “additional/access mail”.

That’s really strange. It’s a brand new Galaxy S7 edge, the same LL v14.1.2 (r2879) as you have and the latest version of gmail with all permissions set correctly, but when it comes to step 5 in the process: “Gmail Label” = empty (cancel).
I don’t know, if this has got something to do with that problem, but I have my other mail accounts (POP) on Samsungs stock mail-app and LL can’t display the mail-widget of this app. When I click on the widget to add, it snaps back to my homescreen.
Disabled LL,back to TouchWiz-Start, restarted the phone and switched back to LL, but everything remains the same.

Try install Gmail itself

< ![CDATA[
Gmail is installed.

< ![CDATA[
I assume your Gmail app is connected to your Gmail account
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Yes, I receive mails from my Gmail account through the Gmail app and the others with Samsungs stock mail app

< ![CDATA[
Ok for now I’m stumped I will check again when I get home

Thank you very much.

How big is the empty screen were you should see the Gmail accounts? Can you post a screenshot?

I have an S6…
Can anyone in the Group comment if they’re having, or had the same issue?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Here is a screenshot. As you can see in the upper right corner, the text already appears only with the actual date.

Do you have 2-Step verification enabled for your Gmail account?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
No, not until now.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Did you have it when the problem started?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
No, I never used it before.

< ![CDATA[
Ok, Sorry, lots of questions… Process of Elimination 🙂

If you go into your Samsung Settings / Accounts / Google… Is your Gmail account there and when did it last sync?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Thanks for your time 🙂
]]>
< ![CDATA[
It’s there and it syncs about every five minutes.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Then all is good other than that glitch…
Ok I’m gonna ask you to try something that seems really stupid… Lol
In the Gmail-Label screen, try to click in the white area as if something is there.
Does anything happen?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I’ve tried this several times…nothing happens. The only option is pressing “cancel”.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
The only other things I can think of to try out in order of preference…
Important!!
Do each step below one at a time,
Reboot after each step.
Try adding the label after each step.
1) Un-install and Reinstall Gmail
2) Remove your Gmail Accounts and re-add them.
If you have 2-step verification you may need to add Samsung to your list of apps.
3) Un-install and Reinstall LL (Check with Pierre first if there is any risks and best steps to take before doing this step.)

Ok, I’ll try this tomorrow. Thank you very much for the moment.
