Newbie question: I previously had three desktops, one for work, one for home, and one for driving. Then I installed several LLtemplates and one of them deleted a desktop so I’m down to two. How to I add another desktop?

Go to Settings, then Lightning. Click on Configure Desktops. Your existing desktops will now be shown. Below that you can see a + sign. Click on that too add a new desktop.
