Pierre Hébert I noticed that the old LL got replaced with a LL trial version today
Pierre Hébert I noticed that the old LL got replaced with a LL trial version today … which has changed some settings (e.g. I can’t pull down the notification tray any more)
I have some devices on which I just want LL and not LLX (lighter LL APK, plus I don’t need the scripting features) … is it possible to still use just LL going forward and not be forced into LLX? Would be happy to use a paid version of LL of course. Thanks!

If you already have the old free version, you will now be able to upgrade it, and continue on.
If not, you will download the trial version, good for 7 days, after which editing will be locked, but launcher will continue to work.
There is no LLX anymore.

Yes I understand that … however what I want is the old version (smaller APK size and ram usage) for my older devices rather than the v12 version. Don’t need the scripting and other features so don’t want to incur more ram usage for features I don’t need on the older devices …

Then I guess you would not want to upgrade… Just stay with what you have.
You don’t have to use scripting if you don’t want to.
Anyway, it doesn’t cost any more ram. At least not as much as an additional widget. Great thing about scripting. It doesn’t add weight for unused features.
The old free version has been unpublished for a year, never to return. It was too much work to maintain 2 separate apps.

I thought so … unfortunately it got upgraded on google play automatically. So now I’m stuck with the v12 version …

Wern-Yuen Tan try it out. It’s WAY better now.
Just a hint…
NEVER use auto update from the play store. 😉 Always manually update after reading what’s new, and a few reviews… It can bite you in the ass!

Yep….I always wanna look at what I’m getting in an update before I let it actually update… But Wern-Yuen Tan I jus remembered a copy of that old free version somewhere if no one has ha problem with it I can dig you up a copy

After upgrade i doing backup for apk file by PC program raccon. http://www.onyxbits.de/raccoon. By this utiliti you can download legal source apk file.

This google play automatic update switch is a nightmare. It defaults to on, and it is easy to forget about it, although that is (in my humble opinion) a very bad thing.
V12 has a bigger package, but this won’t make a difference. 700k/800k instead of 200k/300k (I don’t remember exact figures). It may seems that this is 2 or 3 times more, but remember that the g+ app package alone is 24M (more than 24000k) !
RAM usage should be the same. The app won’t use much more RAM because of new features, but only when these features are actually used. Basically there is a bit more code to load, but the app architecture is strictly the same.
The notification tray is a bug (so you own a samsung?). I hate samsung for their customization that cause too many issues (even if they produce good devices). At the moment I have no samsung device to fix it. I know it was working in the past but this is a non standard android feature (a hack) and I need a samsung device to troubleshoot the bug.

Oh yea I didn’t say above the LL I was saying I would share is the old completely legal free version lol oops my bad . But u totally agree with Pierre that auto update by default is jus ridiculous lol

Thanks all – going to give v12 a try based on Pierre Hébert ‘s advice. The expand notifications action in the Trial version didn’t work on my Samsung S3 … but worked after I upgraded to v12

Most definitely I agree v12 is wayyy better and I would always recommend it over the old one ,well accept like my Samdung Galaxy Centura runs the old first tiny version best but it’s a damn dinosaur lol the phone that is
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Whoo! You still have the “tiny home” version ? Google says that there are still 87 users of this app!
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Lol for that lil Samdung Centura it’s perfect cuz it only uses like 2.5mb of ram, only thing is it’s not unlocked so I can only add apps to the home screen and can’t seem to delete any, I found that phone on the side of the road walking to the store one day and it was on there lol does the job kinda… Oh yea Pierre Hébert I was curious since I bought the newest version if there’s a way to unlock that one so I can add shortcuts.. But it’s no biggie at I can’t put much on 512mb ram anyway, I mainly use it for music since I rooted it and put viper4android on it (better sound than any newest flagship) lol if it’s any aggravation it’s not worth it lol

I didn’t even remember there was locks! If I could I would have sent you the key and all the stuff you need but I can’t even recompile the thing because it used old build tools…

It’s no problem bro thanks anyway.. It really jus amazed me when I got into the newer versions and saw how far this app has come.. It’s jus sooo hard to imagine something so advanced could have ever been that basic at any point lol
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I am even more surprised than you!!! But believe me, this is users fault, they always pushed me in the right direction 😉

It truly has become a work of art bro, I’m amazed more every day

v12 working great on old SGS3 so far. Still can’t find a good use case to write some scripts … though I noticed Tasker variables passed to LLX always have to invoke the launcher app (i.e. can’t be done in the background). Removing that could unlock a lot of new use cases I’m sure …
Corey Spell if you want a super lightweight launcher try Ecohome or Stoic Launcher. I use them on my old Xperia Minipro and they work flawlessly
