In the “old days” of lightning launcher I could swipe two fingers across the screen and everything would disappear except the screen background. Is there a way to make that happen with the current version?

Two fingers swipe is the default action for changing desktops. And having a second empty desktop does what you describe.

So: lightning settings, configure desktops, add desktop.

And check that the action under settings/general/events/2fingerSwipe is set to change desktops (and settings/desktop/events/2fingerSwipe to unset)

Ah, thank you, I get it now. I must have created a blank desktop without knowing it and then simply discovered the two finger swipe and thought that it hid everything on the current desktop. Well, it’s a nice little hack in itself to have a blank desktop and be able to swipe to it to clear the face of the phone 🙂
