Here’s a weird one:
I have a Direct Dial shortcut for my wife on my LL desktop, but when I tap it, LL says: “Item is not installed. Search Google Play, or pick another app?”
I tried removing the shortcut and readding it: same result.
I’m not sure when this stopped working, but it was probably when I upgraded from an S6 to an S7. Has anyone seen this strange behaviour before?

How do I add a dial shortcut? I don’t see that option.

It’s not just you. I just tried it on LL on my S7. I agree that’s odd behavior. Jay, it’s a shortcut provided by the Samsung phone app. I assume it would be different on other phones.

Ah I see maybe it only works on Sammys Launcher like some of the widgets do. Tried it on a different launcher?

Jay M If your phone has it, you’ll find it under Shortcuts if you long-press the desktop to add something. It’s called ‘Direct Dial’.
I’ve verified that the same shortcut works properly in Nova, so it looks like some kind of strange interaction with LL.

Na i don’t have it, I think a script can get you as far as putting in the phone # you would probably have to press the call button though.
It would just be a workaround until Pierre figures out what’s up. Interested?

It’s OK. It’s almost as quick to press the telephone icon in the dock and select the missus from Favourites.
Thanks, though.

The permission has been turned off, or there is a need for an additional permission that I am not aware of maybe ?

Ah, LL must need permission to read Contacts. Let me try that a second…

I was wrong about Contacts. LL needs Telephone permission, of course. Once that’s added, the shortcut works as expected.
Seems like a bug. LL should ask for the correct permissions when they become needed.
Thank you for leading me to the fix!

I’ve been having that glitch not with a dialer but with a few random apps. I will click it and it will say that. Then I have to select the target app as itself. Basically I have to get it to reference itself to work.

That wouldn’t work in this case, however, because the target is a shortcut, so selecting from the app list won’t find it.
