I asked similar a few days ago. When you enter edit mode and have no specific item selected (which means the container (folder, panel, desktop) is active selection.

So, the values in the properties popup are what was formerly in the “Items” section.

Once understood it’s intuitive and logical.

Thanks. That does make perfect sense.

Is that going to work in the app drawer?

Asai Inori Damn good point! In App Drawer settings the Items submenu is really missing.

Pierre Hébert I think this is a bug report then.

Workaround: go to My Apps in App Drawer, there you can enter edit mode and edit Items’ default values like as you were on desktop.

The Items submenu will not reappear 😉

The “My drawer” view is really the place to make changes but it is not obvious and not explained as it should.

Pierre Hébert That is okay. But when not in “My drawer” users should be able to change items’ settings.

This doesn’t work because of the computed layout. When editing properties, you need to be in edit mode, and in edit mode there are a lot of editing features which are not allowed in other modes. I tried to disabled some disable some actions such as item resize, attach/detach, pinning, etc. but hit a wall on the undo/redo buttons: they can affect the geometry because of previous modifications.

Pierre Hébert Okay, understood. My suggestion: add “Edit” to 3-dots-menu anyway. Before entering edit mode, just switch to My Drawer view and back afterwards. Items’ settings affect all views anyway.

That works. Thanks for the help with that… I was about to get frustrated and think that my favorite app lost some functionality… Keep doing what you do, guys, Lutz Linke, Pierre Hébert and all other project experts, and I’ll keep buying. 😺

Something new, and I’m sure I’m over thinking the logic… But following the afore mentioned method, I should be able to enter a folder, pull up the edit functions and select a panel to edit it’s items…

Panels have a dual behavior: they are both a container and an item. When editing the container of a panel, tapping on a panel lets you edit the properties of the item. You need an extra long tap/edit to enter edition for the content of the panel.

Not sure if I went about it correctly, but I added an object, brought up the edit dialog for that object then unselected said object and was able to edit items for the panel.
