Did something happen to the transparency setting for desktop elements with one of the updates or is something now precluding me from setting it for new items such as widgets?

I’m having some issues with transparency of widgets but still works for icons/shortcuts. I’ve tried with the stock Google search bar widget and a music search widget. I’m using a stock Nexus 6p and running the beta version of Lightning Launcher.

When I change transparency to 0 it says 0 but you can still see the widget. Then after leaving the setting menu and returning it’s back to 255

Pierre Hébert there seems to be a bug with transparency setting for new added widgets on beta 12.9b3. I can confirm this.

I dont remember ever being able to change the transparency of a widget. I know we cant change the color Pierre explained why. I always thought transparency was color though because its the apha channel part of it isnt it?

Jay M transparency is indeed specified in color, but Android can also manage the alpha for a whole view (and child views). Lightning uses this feature when available, and implement it for older android versions.
Anyway I confirm this is a bug, the alpha property is not kept for widgets, it is always reset to 255. Setting the alpha on the container works, so the issue shouldn’t be too complex to solve.
