Hello

Hello,

On my emulator (Genymotion with KK 4.4.4) I made the following setup:

– Audio Glow LWP for system wallpaper

– Fully opaque image for desktop wallpaper, and set its color to 0x01000000

Picture shows how it looks like, and I’m totally satisfied with it.

But unfortunately, on my real device (KK 4.4.4), Audio Glow isn’t visible unless I remove desktop’s wallpaper.

I do all the same, but it looks like on my real device system and desktop wallpapers won’t combine, while in emulator, it works perfectly fine.

Any suggestions please?

Dmitry, what is the end result you are trying to achieve?

Is it just to make the live wallpaper darker?

What fully opaque image are you using?

Chris Chastain Maybe I expressed not very clear, sorry.

So I try to achieve exactly what is on picture. And I 100% satisfied with the result shown. My problem is that this works only in emulator, but doesn’t work on my real device: live wallpaper isn’t visible on real device. And I can’t make it show up. I guess this may be dependent somehow on hardware acceleration that is different between emulator and my real hardware.

The image I mentioned is a custom VW theme drawn in Photoshop, a PNG image without any transparency, thus 100% opaque. It’s on the picture above, set as the desktop wallpaper.

Here’s how it looks like in reality: https://youtu.be/kGBAeiFhC5Y

Ok, I had no idea the VW graphic was what you were referring to.

I don’t know of a way to make an opaque image transparent in Lightning wallpaper… Only add a tint.

Why not make a partially transparent version of the image?

You could try using the image as background for an object instead of wallpaper… That should work.

Size it to cover the whole screen.

I just did a test that seemed to work.

    Add a new Blank Item.

    Change icon to your image.

Set the icon size mode to Full scale/keep ratio (depends on your image of course)

In misc, set transparency to suit.

    Label set to not display.

Size to cover the screen and set the z-axis to be behind everything on your desktop.

But why does it work in emulator then? I repeat: the picture is not just how I imagine it would work, it is how it actually works, it’s a real screenshot (sadly, it works in emulator only)

I understand, and having never used an emulator, I have no clue.

Just trying to find a way to help you get the effect you are trying to get.

Icons have a transparency setting. Wallpaper only has a tint setting. I suspect a bug in your emulator, but that’s neither here nor there 😀

Perhaps even a bug in LL!

looks to me like your car stereo doesn’t support live wallpapers. Check the device for “livewallpaperpicker.apk”. If that system app isn’t installed you maybe able to acquire it from another device (need to be rooted though)

Scott Almond just try to make a desktop wallpaper transparent in LL so that the system wallpaper shows through. Doesn’t work on my device and my live wallpaper works fine.

Scott Almond, LWP works fine on my device if not obscured by desktop WP. That’s not the case.

By the way, I’ve tried making picture 50% transparent. Then it works, but both wallpapers (system LWP and desktop WP) are 50% darker, which looks not as nice as on picture in post. I think that emulator has some issue, possibly related to HW acceleration, which makes it work “accidentally”.

Apologies, i miss understood your issue. Most likley an emulator rendering glitch like you say.

To get the same effect, you could create a new wallpaper (png) and cut out everything except the vw logo, then set that as 50% transparency as the wallpaper.

Thanks everybody for suggestions, but probably I don’t like the Audio Glow LWP anymore.

I played with it in emulator for a few days, and I feel it doesn’t follow music truly, as I expected and as real frequency analyzers do. The bars jump pretty randomly.

Also, I think that jumping colorful spots would be distracting while driving.

So I gave up, no regrets though.
