This is because those icons are generated at runtime using an icon font (this one http://zavoloklom.github.io/material-design-iconic-font)

The trick is that it is displayed as an icon (with a label under), not a text 😉

In an icon font, how do we know which letter give which symbols? They don’t give any documentation…

Benoît de Chezelles I made it on the pc with material icon fonts. The whole characters first with a normal font than the icon fonts below these in a word file and ready. Than you can have a look on it every time you need something. 🙂

Watch this space: download the icon font from the link^ and extract the ttf file then add a text element to your desktop. Go back to the link and scroll down to the changelog click were it says cheat sheet find an icon you want to use and copy it. Go back to your desktop long tap the text element choose customize/more and then under the text tab delete the name and paste in the icon you copied from the cheat sheet. Then go to the icon tab and hide the icon, then all you need to do is select the font ttf file you downloaded as the font (under the text tab) then go back to your desktop and checkout your new icon :)

This confused me at first, I was expecting to be able to just change the font and any letters I typed would magically turn into icons. Like in zooper widget.
