Hi all, I’m completely new to LL and one of the first things I tried was selecting a different icon for an app on the desktop. So I go to edit mode -> Select an icon, select “Icon Pack” (in my case “MetroStation”), then tap on an icon – and nothing happens.

Same with a different icon pack or if I try to select an icon from another application instead: No reaction at all. When I return to the desktop, nothing has changed.

Any pointers? Thanks a lot!

‘Then tap on an icon – and nothing happens’. Does this mean the list of icons is still present as if you never clicked? That’s strange. Under normal behavior a window to cut the image is shown.

The only thing I can think now is that you have the developer option ‘kill background services’ enabled. If so disable it. If you didn’t know what I’m talking about then this is not the problem.

    Which device and android version?

Thank you, TrianguloY. Yes, that’s exactly what it means: I click an icon and it gets briefly highlighted (so the event is handled by the list) but the list remains is place.

I don’t have the ‘kill background services’ option in my list but there’s ‘limit background services’. I never touched it and it’s set to ‘standard limit’ rather than any option between 0 and 4. Which process does this icon selector need?

My device: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, rooted, running King Rom v13 (which probably won’t help you much), based on Samsungs XXU1BPIF wich in turn is based on Android 6.0.1. This setup has been stable for over six months and I’ve never had an issue like this before.

Is there anything else a can try or check? LL looks really promising and I’d like to give it a try…

The ‘limit background services’ suggestion was because in the past setting that to 0 caused lightning to not show some windows. That’s not the issue here as you said.

It is strange, and (I think) nobody ever reported something similar.

I can’t think of anything causing that, so here are a list of things you can try if you want. Probably they won’t do anything but…

Make sure lighting have the permissions (specially the storage one).

Try adding an icon directly, instead of changing one.

Try setting a plain color, a picture from gallery or from camera (buttons at the top).

Try deleting the app data (make a backup first) and try with a fresh install.

Just in case I’ll call the developer Pierre Hébert, although he is missing lately and not sure when he will show again.
