I haven’t been using LL for a long time.
I haven’t been using LL for a long time. I wanna ask about RAM usage. It used to be around 20MB, and now it’s more than 50MB. Is it realy rised so much?

How much RAM do you have?

My phone is a low-end 1GB.

The RAM is there to be used, the launcher is using around 50mb of it probably because you have a few Widgets on screen and scripts running, if you want you can uncheck the ‘keep on memory’ option so it may give you that extra ram…
But as I said, RAM is there to be used, android makes a very good task on killing processes, so killing apps is pretty much useless… Also you can try Greenify if like to hibernate apps to get that extra ram as well.

I was just curious

Michał Rutkowski my phone is 500MB, and runs better with LL than any other launcher I used. Internal storage is low too, and with an installer in the kb range, it’s a godsend. Most other launchers have a 15MB+ installer. Besides, where else can you get this amount of customization? And with the new ui, it’s a breeze. I recommend LL to everyone!

I know, i just appointed the change from 20+ to 50+. I use the eXtreme version of the launcher.

Michał Rutkowski Ram usage of Lightning is mainly of widgets and images(as background, icons…). The change could be because of that.

I had no widgets and only 5 shortcuts to 5 apps on the screen when i was checking usage.

Depending on how long your long is: Since Lightning introduced the hotword feature it uses a google service which uses about 20mb RAM for me. This service is usually active anyway on most devices, but now it’s listed for LL.

My long is about a year.

Hotword detection was added about 11 months ago

Lukas Morawietz the setting that’s under “general” cuts this feature off right? Or is that something else?

< ![CDATA[
Thomas Greer the feature can be turned off, but not the underlying service.

What sucks is that not everyone can use hotword detection on their devices so that ram climbs up for no reason.

I have the ‘ok google’ setting turned off since it was implemented, and there is no extra service according to the Android settings

I use that setting sometimes when im using GOOGLE NOW launcher but i also use autovoice too and its nice to have google run my tasker tasks. Its the only time i use it since i dont have a device capible of running hwd with lightning.

I just noticed, there is no extra service because I have the Google search app disabled 😛

The service also disappears if you turn it off in the google app., but it reappears after a while.
