I’ve been having a random problem for a while.

I’ve been having a random problem for a while. Basically when I have an icon or other shortcut on the desktop and I use it to launch an app it works the first time, but any time that app exists in memory I can’t launch it again via the icon/shortcut. I have to use the “recent apps” or the recent apps app drawer. If I kill all running apps the icon/shortcut will launch the app again.

I’ve tried reinstalling but that didn’t work. This even persisted through a factory reset I had to do for other reasons.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Actually after doing some more testing, the same thing happens for gesture shortcuts.

Sounds like your intenthandler is somewhat broken. Do you have a custom ROM installed? Does this happen with the default launcher too?

No custom rom. I’m on a GS3 rooted, but stock. It didn’t happen in Nova Prime before I switched over. And while I still like Nova, LL is just way better imo.

I can get by using the recent apps menu or launched recently drawer in LL… it’s just a disruptive user experience when i use the icon/shortcut/gesture and expect something to happen and it doesn’t. Originally it was even doing it on the hardware button as well but i ended up downloading Home2Shortcut and it works fine for that now, but I can’t seem to fix or work around the issue elsewhere.

    Thanks

Without hands on the phone I can just guess.. .

    Do you use xposed?

Which root apps have you installed?

There are some approaches out of the “have you tried turning it off and on again”-category:

    – Does it still occur with a resetted LL?

    – Have you tried a factory reset?

    (backup!)

I do use xposed and I also have a fair amount apps that make use of root (if that’s what you’re asking). I  tried resetting LL to defaults but it was a while ago so I may try it again. And I had to factory reset for another reason last month but it still persisted after that.

I’ll try resetting LL back to defaults again and see if that helps. I probably just used my backup from Titanium Backup after factory reset. But i seem to remember it happening from the very first time I installed LL and I just worked around it for a while hoping it would get fixed alongside some other internal bug (I’m a software engineer so I know that happens all the time haha).

I’ve been having similar oddities but I thought it was the screen on my n7. However my brand new completely stock n9 often requires me to hit icons more than once to open the application.
