I really want to try this launcher but I’m struggling. I tried to search the forum but don’t see a clear answer. When I add a widget, and reboot the device, the widget disappears.

Jay M you gave me a clue. I went into backup and restore for the first time and it asked for permissions. I granted them and now after reboot the widgets remain.

Just did a clean install and it never asks for the permissions. It only asks on entry to backup and restore. Odd.

I just remembered something the floating desktop requires the draw over other apps permission IIRC and I never got asked for it I had to set it myself.

Heads up to Pierre Hébert that there might be situations where Lightning doesn’t ask for required permissions

Regarding the draw over other apps, I’m aware of it, but I lost hope of finding a workaround.
For write to external storage, I don’t know why there would be a link with widgets.
