Multitool Beta

I pushed a new Beta version for my Multitool, now including Music widget replacement for all devices (starting at Lollipop).
It would be great if you could test it a bit:
I am happy about any kind of feedback, but I’m particularily interested if there is an app which doesn’t work with this, or one that works but shouldn’t.
The advantage of this widget replacement is:
– It only runs when Lightning is in the foreground! No battery usage otherwise.
– You can customize it a lot, because it is built out of normal LL items.
For those who follow my activities: this is the successor of the Metadata receiver script. I created it because that script only works with either root or only some specific apps.

Ok, first bug : once I select music widget I got an empty white popup with “Cancel” and “OK” buttons and whatever I click I’m stick on it.

Everything is OK now Lukas Morawietz. Popup ask for notification rights and I now have a panel with album/track title/artist strings. No cover but I just try your widget quickly.
My music player is Poweramp Pro.

Beta 5 Supports album art for player pro (and possibly more). Note that Lightning needs to be restarted after an update. Controls will probably come next week.

First track informations didn’t update when changing but I deleted and add again your widget and everything is right.
Some suggestions if I can ask :
– album art is bigger than panel size (FHD screen) so it appears cropped. I have to deactivate grid and resize panel to fit picture.
– panel is “scrollable” : ie I can hide cover in scrolling to left. I don’t know if you can make it unscrollable
– panel has a white frame. If you could make it transparent it will look better by default Imo.
– could you make music controls as an option (or removable like tags)? I think about using gesture on cover to control my player.

Beta 6 contains controls. Note that there is currently no way to update existing widgets, you have to delete it and add it again.
Lionel SANCHEZ Looks have low priority ATM. I first want to have it stable, then I’ll think about layout and related stuff.
I reused some code of the gesture launcher. While doing that I noticed some smaller bugs. These are now fixed too.

Lukas Morawietz : Controls works great with my player (PowerAmp Pro).
Two things :
– Player have to be launched before adding widget or cover is not available. (Tested again and I can’t reproduce it :/ )
– Prev/Next buttons are in memory. When player is off if you click on previous then on play/pause, when the player starts it goes to previous track (the behaviour with Next and multiple click change multpile tracks).
I don’t know if you have done something but Panel fits Cover perfectly now when adding widget.
As I have multiple players (music, podcast etc.) can I use many widget to control them separatly or can I use only one widget/controls ?

Players are discovered dynamically, it is not possible to assign a specific one to a widget. I don’t know if it will ever be possible with my architecture.
I’ll look into the buffered buttons.
Problems on first add are pretty hard to test, I couldn’t reproduce anything similar.

Beta 8 was just uploaded. It contains:
– UI changes (no scrolling in panel, no border, icons instead of text)
– Fixes for the Auto Backup (it will now persist through reboots and has gotten a better backup time picker)
This is essentially a release candidate for the music widget. If the backup continues to be problematic I will push the music widget to the stable channel without including the backup.
