   It is obviously not permitted to redistribute the apk, so the only reason to do this would be for personal use. And really, anybody with Titanium Backup or similar tools does it already. I can see no harm for anyone in a personal backup either.

   There are numerous (non root) tools to make APK backups. e.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.appbackup

   It is possible for App developers to disable the ability to make copies of the APK, in which case, such apps can only save a link to the Play Store.

   If the developer hasn’t disabled APK backups (and TBH, I have no idea why they would), then I see that as tacit permission.

   As for me I don’t mind backups of LL APKs. A good backup is a backup that includes everything, including the app to use the data.
