I would suggest to use a normal folder, configure its window animation and placement so that it opens from one edge of the screen with a slide animation. Then you may use swipe (left/right or top/down) gestures to open/close it.
Or you can use a single panel and make its content scroll by creating some blank pages in it.
If your desktop has only one page, you may put a panel just past the edge of the adjoining page. If you then pin everything on the home page, it will give the appearance of a sliding panel when you scroll. Add stop point at outside edge of panel to limit page scrolling to width of panel or other amount, to your preference.

Is there a way so that when you reach the end of the panel it scrolls the desktop in that direction?Pierre Hébert
No, although it has been discussed in the past. It’s not exactly easy to implement, and I must admit than I am not a big fan of this behavior…
So how’s it possible on “hide & seek” template has a panel to move back and forth
Try searching this community and wiki for “stop points”
