I see in the LL description that it includes functions for missed calls/text messages etc, but for the life of me I cannot find how to enable it on, for example, the shortcut for my MMS app so it shows me when I have an unread text message. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Just found it but thanks for the answer!
The latest version has a new item: “badges” which is basically dynamic text formatted in a standard way. You might want to try that, as well.
