The aim is to get a preview of the current context. Previously everything behind was hidden. This time I tried to select a low opacity level so that the desktop behind can be seen without being too much disturbing. I don’t know which solution is best, I am interested in feedback about this.

I personally like it, as you can have an idea of how it will look like.
A possible suggestion is to draw everything except the own panel (only the background if any) because seeing icons twice is a bit strange (but you get used to it so no big problem)
Another possible suggestion is to leave the panel preview, with duplicated icons, but update it with every change
This is: if you move an item, the background will reflect this change. (This will allow to know exactly the result without needed to exit and enter again)
And, just as a suggestion and I know this can be more difficult, what about the same to folders? The only change is that folders can increase in size, so the second suggestion may be necessary in this case.

I like this idea…
draw everything except the own panel (only the background and border if any) because seeing icons twice is a bit strange.
Second isnt good, because if is panel on one line and user have more than one line other icons not will be visible…

Danbar Danbar you didn’t understand the second suggestion.
Now when you enter edit mode of a panel, the icons are also shown semi transparent in the background.
But if you move an item while in edit mode, that background is unchanged.
My suggestion is to also change the background.

i understand. Try add to panel some icons to more than one lines. One line is home position, other isnt posible show (if panel is only one line). In edit mode you can doing move icons, zooming, etc, but true panel background (if is set) is in original position everytime.
