But sometimes I look a little bit envious at the great desktop-effects (cylinder, ball, flip) of other launchers. Is there a (very simple) solution to install something like this also with LL?

I am sorry there is no simple solution. The above script works but it cannot be very efficient. The main reason is the difference in concept (surface vs pages).
