New to LL, how do i create an icon layout for portrait and landscape?

New to LL, how do i create an icon layout for portrait and landscape? i got it to set different layouts (# rows and cols) on the desktop, but i cant get the icons to be in different spots. thanks.

Desktop’s settings->Behavior:layout->Placement:Dual position [check]
