Not sure if this has been asked yet, but it there anyway to make the top status bar pure black instead of the dark grey. I think black has a cleaner look to it.

The color of the status bar is defined by Android. If your phone is rooted, you may be able to change the color. E.g. with an xposed module.
The launcher has nothing to do with the color and can’t change it. Correct me if I’m wrong

Well I have the HTC M8 and its already transparent. But when I turn off the transparency in llx it is dark grey. Would like that part to be black.

As Lukas said the launcher can’t do anything. It is a device color
What you can do is to make it transparent and place a shortcut with a black icon under it. As a suggestion.
