A way to group the apps in the add-widget menu would be nice. For example i got about 15 uccw widgets in different sizes, which makes the list a bit messy.

Ent you that dude who made an icon pack builder on xda? I only started using it a few days ago so im still figuring it out its very cool though nice work man.
This list is built by the android system. The reason for this list is that this is the only method available on older devices. The newer widget enumeration (with a preview) can only be used if these older android versions are not supported.
This area is partly broken because having several widget sizes is now useless, but still you need to display them if you want to run the app on Android 2.x…
Not really, I would like to avoid duplicating things at the moment. I am sad to say this, but most likely I will simply drop support for Android 2.x devices one day or the other…

Is the add widget menu part of the launcher or the os?

I think it’s part of the launcher, if you look at Nova or apex their add widget menus doesn’t look the same

I get the same one for apex, lightning and nova. In touchwiz I get the app drawer which has a widget section.
Edit: they have the same theme. They are grouped in nova.
Most apps have the ability to hide unused widget sizes too.
