Can somebody make a script that will display all the photos in a set folder as a slide show in a single panel (if possible could you make it so the pictures auto scale to fit the size of the panel?)

I’m not saying this is not possible with scripts, but maybe you should consider using a widget that do exactly that (a slideshow with pictures)
Or, you can also set multiple items, each one with a picture, each one in one page, and use Lukas Morawietz slideshow script: http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/wiki/doku.php?id=script_slideshow
