If user go to edit mode for panel, now is visible white border.
But, if user set for panel different border color and border weight, still is visible only white hairy border… Pierre Hébert

The hairy 1px border should show the primary area covered by the panel (same as desktop), while the borders are drawn around the screen.

Yes, i totaly undestand, because is my post in feature suggestion. I mean, if user set different (color, or more than 1px) , show what have set for normal mode, in edit mode… But everytime show something border…

But if a large border is displayed instead of the 1px border, then it will be uneasy to see items around? In fact it might be better to just not display borders at all and only display the background color and image.

Yes, if user set large border, in first grid from bordes dont see all items. But i dont mean, user will set very big number, and if yes, they will see ugly border in normal mode and change it. My father all your live say: the eye, isnt the vagina… The eye can see;-)
