Assuming you have downloaded the contact picture (from their profile), just select it as usual when you go to Select Icon.
I don’t think there’s any simple way to get it from your contacts… At least without root access.
How would you do it with root access?
No idea. You’d have to find where on your device it’s stored (the hard part), navigate there and copy it to… anywhere the select icon file browser can access, like your download folder, or somewhere on your sd card or external storage or something.
If it’s a G+ profile, just go there and download it. If not, just obtain it some way. Or take a new picture.
After a quick search, I found that contact pics are stored in:
/data/data/com.Android.providers/contacta/databases/contracts.db
An SQLite database file.
simplest approach was to download the contact pics from my laptop and dropbox them to my phone. works and i use few brain cells.
However, the contacts.db looks interesting as i might be able to leverage that for more complex stuff. More stuff to play with. Thanks for sharing, Chris Chastain
Simple is better!
