A question to fellow mods: Is there a way to disable the email notifications from people that want to join?

A question to fellow mods: Is there a way to disable the email notifications from people that want to join? I’ve had like 30 at least today. I don’t mind the g+ notifications but I get 4 separate sounds from my PC and phone etc. every time I there is a request and its really starting to get annoying.

Also, what is the policy an accepting them? Accept anyone that doesn’t look like a spam/bot account?

I receive the notifications in the Google+ tray, but I don’t receive notifications in the device tray…not sure how I disabled them.

As for accepting members…yes, accept everybody (unless you are 99.95% sure it is a bot)

Regarding second question: We basically accept everyone. Who spams doesn’t stay long, who posts (totally unrelated) advertisements is instant out. (I banned one once in my time as mod, he was posting ads for cars). You should not accept anyone with a extremely offending profile or name, but I haven’t seen anyone actually having these.

Ah, wait. You mean the email notifications…well, this account is not my main one and they go to the social tab so I don’t receive notifications from them.

You can make a filter (or whatever it is called in English) to mark them, or send them directly to the trash…

TrianguloY  James Coyle I searched through my spam filters, and found one deleting everything with ‘möchte Mitglied von Lightning Launcher’ in it (german for ‘new member for Lightning Launcher’)

Really, is there some event or why are so many people joining today?

    It’s remarkable

Is there a language restriction on the community or are people free to use any language when posting?

You can post in whatever language you want, however English is recommended and almost required to get more answers, and also so others can benefit from the post ideas.

There has been more than one post in other language from people that don’t feel confident enough to post in English.

James Coyle People are allowed to use any language, but everyone should include an english translation when using another language. That’s however no reason to ban someone. As long as 99% of the posts are in english, I don’t care and just ignore the posts I can’t understand when translated by google.

Edit: TrianguloY wow, answering at the same time again

I know you can do the email notification thing through the Google plus Web site going on through your browser
