Something I’ve wanted to do since getting LL is to create a custom notification panel/sidebar. Basically I don’t want the built-in notification panel to show notifications or at least very limited.

What I would like to create is a panel with icons of selected apps that would show notifications ie. G+, Slack, emails, Facebook and so on. I do have Tasker so this is possible, Buti HAVE NO understanding of scripting which will be needed to do what I want.

Firstly, I want the panel to slide out when I receive one of the notifications arrive and to have that notification be the top icon,(using a vertical panel) and as subsequent notifications come in their icons would then be top icon in the panel pushing the others down. Would also like, the panels open(visibility time) to be timed per notification ie. G+ would leave the panel visible for 3 seconds Facebook 2seconds or however long I want.

I guess I need to know would this be battery friendly and would it use a lot of resources and is it even feasible to implement?

No clue were to start, but info is welcomed!

Thanks.

I want to do a similar thing for notifications on my lockscreen, but without the timeouts and the panel, but i need to finish a few other scripts before I can get to that. I could look into your idea earlier though, because it doesn’t require the scripts I need for my lockscreen idea, but i do want to finish the one I’m working on right now first.

I don’t know how resource/battery heavy it would be, but i guess there’s only one way to find out for certain

H Tuttle Kustom Live wallpaper can do that but like LL it does have a little bit of a learning curve but not too bad & it’s a good combination with LL. You can find tutorials on youtube. Colin de Roos Kustom Live Wallpaper has a Kustom widget app too (like zooper). You could make a widget from a module created in kustom & add that to a lockscreen.
