Love this launcher

Love this launcher … flexibility+. Question: I like using gestures and scrolling vertically/horizontally. Is there any way I could have say the “recents” multiview displayed by simply swiping from say the home screen to the left or right etc. instead of having to hit the button

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=grandmastersoftware.togglerecentapps this is a free app that will call your recent tasks shortcut when you run it. You could set left or right swipe to run an app & choose this app. It shows up as “recent apps”. As far as I know LL has no built in support for this specific action, but you could use this to call it outside of LL too. I have used this for a long time.

Download QuickShortcutMaker for the Play Store. Don’t worry, you can uninstall it again when done and not lose the functionality.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut

Go into the Lightning Launcher settings menu to set up your gesture. Choose ‘Launch a Shortcut’ and then ‘Activities’. Scroll down to ‘System UI’ and expand to show available activities. Select the one that says ‘com.android.systemui.recent.RecentsActivity’. Click the Create button in the lower right corner.

That’s it! Test it out. Once it works you can uninstall QuickShortcutMaker if you want and it’ll still work.

QuickShortcutMaker is free and you don’t need to keep it to use the functionality it gives you. 🙂

The play store doesn’t tell you what you paid for apps so I assumed it was free. I don’t buy apps very often. I also have quickshortcutmaker though & I’d recommend it.

Mike Wyzlic that particular option is unavailable on my device (as in it doesn’t exist). How would it work for me so I can check it out?

bahrta sai I was thinking either they changed it from free to paid or you put the wrong link by mistake. I’m kinda wondering if it’ll work with my tablet though

Curtis Sylvester Jr. Instead of scrolling down to System UI, try using the search bar and look for ‘recent’. It should pop up as one of very few options if not the only one. Make sure you’re on the Activities tab in QuickShortcutMaker.

Mike Wyzlic that option isn’t there either. Perhaps that’s why I have no clue what this is about.

Curtis Sylvester Jr. It’s duplicating the function if long pressing home to bring up the recent activity screen through a shortcut instead of the home button. Maybe it’s your crazy tablet striking again.

I use appmonster for backups & I got the link from that so if the developer released it free it’s paid now.

    bahrta sai I kinda figured

Mike Wyzlic no wonder… On my tablet if I long press home it brings up like a magnifying glass where I access google now or whatever my default assistant app is or whatever. Since I have nothing as my default it brings up a menu asking me to choose what the hell I want it to do. Bring up search assistant, perform a tasker task, etc etc

Curtis Sylvester Jr. You can try it with Tasker. This should have the same result if your tablet supports it at all. Root not needed.

    Task Action, System, Send Intent

Fill in the blanks as follows:

    Action: android.intent.action.VIEW

    Package: com.android.systemui

    Class: com.android.systemui.recent.RecentsActivity

    Target: Activity

Nothing happened. But it did help me understand how to use intents a little better

Curtis Sylvester Jr. I guess that activity isn’t available on your tablet. What version of Android do you have? This may have been introduced in one of the more recent versions…

Glad you got something out of it at least – understanding intents better.

I don’t have the phone yet…. They sold out at the store but it did absolutely nothing on my tablet kinda like it was stuck on “what is this for again? ”

Mike Wyzlic the tasker method doesn’t work for me either on 4.1.2, droid razr maxx.

bahrta sai. I’m on 4.4 so I’m not sure how far back this was available, but I would think Jellybean would have it. Here’s the entire task details. It took me a few tries to get it working. Send Intent is pretty picky… Make sure your Target is Activity and not Broadcast Receiver.

    Test Recent (80)

    A1: Send Intent [ Action:android.intent.action.VIEW Cat:None Mime Type: Data: Extra: Extra: Package:com.android.systemui Class:com.android.systemui.recent.RecentsActivity Target:Activity ]

Here’s one more method to try for the Recents Activity. This one uses AutoShare. It’s also using an Intent, but it’s a bit different from the one I posted yesterday… Maybe this one will work.

    AutoShare, Configuration

If you don’t already have the intent downloaded, then click on Get More Intents! and select Recent Apps (all the way at the bottom of the web page).

Once you have the Recent Apps intent installed, select ‘AutoShare’ under App in AutoShare Configuration and ‘Recent Apps List’ from Action in AutoShare Configuration.

    Test Recents (80)

    A1: AutoShare [ Configuration:Package: com.android.systemui

    Class: com.android.systemui.recent.RecentsActivity

    App: AutoShare

    Action: Recent Apps List Package:com.joaomgcd.autoshare Name:AutoShare Timeout (Seconds):10 ]
