Sorry if it’s a stupid question and I am missing something obvious.

Sorry if it’s a stupid question and I am missing something obvious.

I am trying to configure some sort of Dock to have a look similar to that or standard Android launcher (or most other Launchers too): a Dock moving to the right side when in landscape and with some sort of divider from the other icons.

I enabled the option to have different landscape and portrait positions but when I switch from portrait to landscape (having also different numbers of rows), the pinned items (in portrait) don’t show up anymore so I can’t move them to a new position to be used in landscape.

Also, is there any kind of options/widgets to have an indicator showing which page/desktop is active?

Thanks!

Disable “Honour pinned items in edit mode” from general settings

You can add a shortcut and label it with the desktop name (and remove the icon if you think it’s appropriate) to know the current desktop.

    For the dock:

The best is to use a panel, it will allow you to scroll independently from the desktop itself too.

But if you prefer to use pinned items, go to general settings and uncheck ‘honor pinned items’. This will show the pinned items in edit mode as not pinned (the problem you have is that it is outside the main page and pinned, so you can’t see it)

And for the indicators, you can use dummy shortcuts with label only (or, in case you have LLX, you can also think with scripts)

Ah, Bogdan, you were faster 😉

TrianguloY seems you and I are on the same page with the desktop labelling. Maybe there should be an option to display current desktop name, like there is in Windows.

Bogdan Tautu I can think a lot of different ways with scripts.

But I also think that a good replacement will be in the ‘dynamic text’ … hm, it is only for LLX, the same as scripting.

A new item? Not sure….do you have any idea? Toast notification maybe?

Dynamic text is only in LLX? That was a good idea. But there needs to be a solution for LL also.

I tried with a Panel but it seems to move together with the other items on the desktop… did I miss some options?

Also I still have one problem with the pinned items. I made them with a top border (in portrait mode) but when I moved them to be a vertical dock in landscape mode the border still is on the top of each icon (instead of moving to the left side)

Finally, just to make sure, is there no way to reproduce a simple page indicator like in the stock launcher or TouchWiz or similar, right?

    Thanks for the replies!

Simo Z The panel issue: you need to pin it 😉

The borders issue: this is known, what you can do now is to place a dummy shortcut with the border, or the panel option.

About the indicator: without scripting no. Sorry.

Sorry if I am a bit slow on this^^

How to turn the panel from horizontal (in portrait) to vertical in landscape?

    What is a dummy shortcut?

I have LLX, is there any place where to downloads script in general? (and/or for my need in particular^^)

Thanks a lot again for the patience!

About turning the panel: well, this is a bit more complex than I thought because you need to check the dual position for both: the desktop and the panel. If you don’t want to scroll it better forget this.

Dummy shortcut is the name we use here for a shortcut that does nothing. Literally. The best is to use a shortcut to Lightning launcher action ‘do nothing’.

This is because it’s the lighter item you can add, you can set it to show text (hiding the icon) to show a picture (hiding the label) or in your case just set the borders, hide the label and icon, and place it behind the items.

Oh, and if you want scripts just check the ‘scripts’ section of this community, or go here: http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/wiki/doku.php?id=script_repository
