A suggestion that will help me (and others) a lot.

My problem is that I have an item behind a folder (also happens if it’s above), so every time I click on that item a short period of time in edit mode, it goes into the folder (don’t tell me to move the folder/icon please)

So, to avoid this I suggest two possible features:

1) the easiest one:

Just a checkbox in the config to allow/deny put items into folders.

2) maybe better, but more difficult:

When you hover something above a folder, wait a few milliseconds until you can put it into (you’ll know when because the item will become translucent just as it does now). Then, when the pop-up appear cancel the action again.

This way if you want to put something in a folder is easy, just a bit slower than now. And if you don’t want, it’s more difficult to make it by accident.

What do you think? I saw suggestion #1 in the past, I’m suggesting #2 in case the first is not a good one.

Oh, and a bug (noooo,a bug!) with the latest 8.8 and the new feature ‘long press to move items in free mode’

With my layout (the folder and the icon behind the folder) and the new feature on, when I scroll from the icon, it doesn’t move (the feature works well) but it become selected, so it goes into the folder 🙁

I second this. Don’t know how many times I have had something go into a folder by accident!

For me, if I tap once in edit mode it will highlight the topmost item. If I tap a second time it will highlight the next underlying item. Sure, I’ve accidentally moved things into folders, but this may help some of you in the meantime so you don’t have to move the folder each time to edit the item underneath.

Thanks TrianguloY , I vote for #2 because it would be boring to toggle a switch too frequently.

I think the most difficult thing is to select the right duration, so that it is long enough but not too much.

Jacob Lavender: is your comment also another suggestion?

(Or is an actual feature I’m missing?)
