This is not technically a Lightning launcher bug, but it could be.

With the new ‘app icon picker beta’ you can use the pictures inside apps.

Where you can use a custom png/9.png file you can also use a compatible icon pack, specifically the ‘app icon picker beta’

But when you do this, 9patch images are set as normal png images (I’m sure they are 9.png , I tested with my own files) so:

One of the apps convert the 9.png files into a normal .png one. If the problem is the app icon picker just fix it when possible. If the problem is the launcher…it will happen with other icon packs as well (are there icon packs with 9patch images? I don’t know)

Yes I am aware of that, this is because the bitmap is transcoded in the process and loses some precious bytes that makes 9patches what they are. In order to resolve this issue I need to implement a dedicated communication channel that would prevent this transformation, both in LL and in the icon picker. As this is not compatible with standard icon packs, both apps need to ‘recognize’ them so that they can discuss correctly with 9patches.
