UI/UX design?

UI/UX design?

We have a totally customizable launcher, but I stumble on using that for good layout.

Screenshots show some beautiful setups, some are even intricate with sliding folders/panels and pop-up widgets.

I’m looking for a UI that’s intuitive, has all my main apps readily available, and preferrably nice to look at.

Well, LLX is made for do custom jobs and yes, its a bit frustrating at the beginning. But it should take only 5 to 10 minutes of work to get the first good results. But first you have to now what you really want… and there are a lot of good templates which are complete ready to use. Here on G+ are also tutorials, like on youtube and over the http://www…...

Although it might sound like a weird thing to recommend, pulling out a sheet of paper and a pencil to draw a sketch first can save a lot of time. It helps to focus on what you’re looking for, without being distracted by all the other things the toy can do.

I see I was unclear in my question. Thanks for the pointers, though what I’m really asking is “what IS a good UI”?

E.g. Lutz Linke’s Hide&Seek is well executed, and beautiful – but it can’t be used one-handedly.

So, this is then a meta discussion, really. Should we make home screens for one or two hands? If we use sliders, should they be two/three/four pages?

As you maybe can see from my question, I lean towards a ‘one hand/max two clicks’ interface.

What then, are your thoughts on UI design? (Implementing is then the second question, but it’s useless without answering the first).

Edit: H&S now accredited to the right person

    Kjell Hensman my few cents:

there is no general good UI.

    the variations are enormous.

one or two hands? depends also on the device-size 😉

the possibilities of LL/LLX gives everybody the chance to do it like he/she wants.

ps: hide&seek is not my work 😉

Carolyn Boyle, paper is exactly what I’m doing right now, as well as reading up on design discussions in other forums.

Maybe a long shot for this forum though, kind of like asking ‘where to go?’ in a Ford Mustang group 🙂
