I have a question about edit item within panels. I can not edit items inside a panel. I long press the item but nothing happens? When I long press items outside they go into edit mode. I have recently made a factory reset and an upgrade to JB 4.3. There has been some other issues after that, but I can not figure this one out. I have not dug into panels before, so maybe I am doing something fundamentally wrong.

Have you tried going to Edit Layout on the panel first, then long-pressing the item within the panel afterwards?

    Yes, both methods.

    1) Edit layout on panel and then longpress on item. Result: I just get a meny for the panel and also opportunity to edit the panel (sizing, scale, rotation)

    2) just long press on item in the panel. Result: Nothing happens.

    Very strange!

This may sound stupid but bear with me. Move the panel. It could be that you’ve dropped the icon onto the desktop rather than into the panel. Moving the panel will make that clear.

When I add an item to a panel, I enter layout mode on the panel, then long press on an empty part, and select add. The menu should also have android settings, customise panel and edit layout as the 4 options.

I did this once, and I had the same confusion..

    * you can long press items in the drawer to add several in one ‘add’ step.

Happen to me too before. I have moved the panel and the item is inside. The problem with adding an item is that I can not add items that way (I have to create the item outside the panel and drag it into the panel). When I enter edit layout mode on the panel I don’t get get that menu. I get a menu with 5 options (Customize, Position, Customize appearance, Customize panel content and Delete).

I am using the alpha version. Maybe it’s that?

Hmm, is your desktop locked? If it is, you need to go to Edit Layout on the current desktop first, them go to Edit Layout on the panel, then edit the item within the panel.

Maybe? I did not experienced this issue before the upgrade to Jelly bean 4.3. Before I just tested the panel feature, because I did not have the time to complement my existing setup. Now I am trying to implement the feature to the existing setup. I am running LLEx 9.0.1 melodie.

I suspect that Efren Rivera is correct. That’s exactly how I do it.

Thank you for your answers. I have checked that too. I am able to configure other items on the desktop, it is just the panels that don’t behave:)

    Just to clarify:

While in Edit Layout (however you choose to get there) long press inside the panel and select Edit Layout again. You should now be able to edit panel items. (Note that desktop outside the panel is no longer in edit mode) This does not work for you?

    Hi,

I go to edit layout mode for the desktop and then I long press inside the panel and choose edit layout again. What happens then is that the whole desktop goes out of edit mode including the panel, back to normal mode so to speak.

I have also un- and reinstalled LLX and restored data via backup pro, but it does not help.

Ok. The desktop going out of edit mode is correct function. Are you sure that the panel is also going out of edit mode? If so, I’m afraid I’m also at a loss.

    Try this:

Go to edit layout mode, long press panel and select Customize. Under the + tab, make sure that Clickable is checked.

The issue is solved! I don’t know how? But it works now as it did before. Thanks all for your help!

I sure wish you knew how, because if you have the issue, others probably will too!

I’ve seen this happen before, and I’ve tried all the above things that have been posted to fix it. The trick that I have found that works every single time, is to create a shortcut to the LL action to restart the launcher. When the panel stops responding just click on that shortcut. Once you’re done making changes to your desktop, you can delete the shortcut.

Does not work, but I now know why. I have 2 desktops one is not in use so often, the other is active. I tested yesterday to insert a panel on the inactive desktop. There it works perfect to edit item within the panel. I forgot to delete it while experimenting, suddenly it start working on my acive desktop too. I had forgotten that I made a panel on the other desktop. I wrote everything was ok. Afterwards I found the panel in my inactive desktop and deleted it and same problem occur on my active desktop again. So…

I will look for different settings for the desktops. The inactive desktop is old and simple, just folders on one screen, no stop points. Any suggestion what setting I should look for?

Carolyn Boyle I will check that out too. It is a very strange, because it works on one desktop, but not the other.

It looks like a bug that happen rarely : two folders or panels point are incorrectly sharing some data. I suspect this situation is triggered by a previous crash but I couldn’t find a way to reproduce it yet. The only workaround is to remove linked panels/folders currently.

Pierre Hébert Could this be solved via uninstallation of LLX? I have root, so I am able to backup data. Reinstall a fresh copy from Play store and restore data?

The strange thing is that panels only work in one desktop (the oldest one). I made a new desktop to experiment with all the new features. I have tested to make a third clean desktop and insert a panel, but it does not work on that either. The only way to make it work on all desktops is to insert a panel on the old desktop and edit that panel (add something in it and edit it). Reboot and if I am lucky it work on my other desktop to insert and edit panels. If I remove the panel on my inactive desktop the feature stops working on my other desktop. So I have to keep the panel on my inactive desktop, not delete it.
