Curtis Sylvester Jr. I think it takes a little time for the image to load. When I first uploaded it it looks blurry , but now the image looks clear. Do you want to see exactly what I’m talking about I think you can see if you’re clear data for the launcher and reload it.

turns out you don’t need to reinstall, can just clear data. Pierre Hébert is there a shortcut or anything we can do to get the intro stuff without clearing data?

No, only a clear will display them back, but I don’t think this is really needed, as there are currently only 4 hints, with few things in it.

Pierre Hébert currently there are 4 hints, but at the rate you are moving there could be 4 volumes of hints in a month or two : _)

on that subject: the average user doesn’t work on changing the launcher everyday. Information that they see at first install is likely to be welcome but forgotten by the time they need it again.

Depending on the users experience an aptitude, It may take a few iterations for even small bits of information to sink in.

It would be a selling point if there were an easy way to turn the hints off and on. Like Microsoft’s “tool tips” . Sort of. Without any annoying cartoon animals telling us what to do of course … ;-P

If this were my party I would make it easy to toggle the hints in order to address the “I can’t figure out what this thing does so I’m uninstalling it ” phenomenon. Heck, I’m no expert when it comes to Android, , but I have been programming since before Hector was a pup, and I gave up on LL he first time that I looked at it . Until I began to better understand what other launchers won’t let us do…

I didn’t saw myself the tips, (I don’t want to reinstall LL)

But, as I see in the picture, every hint has a ‘don’t show again’ checkbox, which I imagine is a variable in LL set to true/false.

I saw in a lot of apps this type of hints, and in almost all of them there is a single button in setting: “show all hints again” which just set all those variables to true (or false…you understand)

I think this is the best to do, at least now.

I will probably add more hints and some “help” links somewhere, but first I need to write the help 😉

What about a link in the main settings screen (always visible), and a contextual menu item (linking to help related with app, folder, panel, etc.) but only when expert mode is off ?

Wait, only expert mode off? I think it’s better to leave them also in expert mode.

Maybe someone is in expert mode for panels, but doesn’t know how to use stop points.
