How about sharing template/APK by a desktop?
Currently, we can export selected desktops into APK, but we can’t import some desktops by selection.
In other words, we must APPLY/or import entire desktops provided by template/APK.
I am using 3 independent desktops, and if I meet some nice, beatiful, or experimental template/desktop/APK, I have to give up my current desktops. I have no method to add/combine new theme/template/APK into my current one.
I think this prevents freely creating/sharing templates becuase I have to give up mine.
Like I can select some desktops to export/share, Id like to be able to merge new desktop/theme into my current desktops.
Don’t forget we(LLX user?) can have 100 desktops 🙂

This is a good suggestion !
The problem is that this is technically time consumming to do (but far from impossible). Basically merging desktops need to update references everywhere, including items, folders and desktops. This is not so difficult to do, but it requires a lot of postprocessing code to make sure that everything from items to desktop&position shortcuts are updated correctly. As of now since APK template do not seem to attract people, doing a backup before to apply a template is generally enough (but not always, agreed). If APKs gain some traction I may have a closer look at this though.

Pierre Hébert Yes. althought I’m not an author of LL :), I can enoughly imagine the complexity of implementation of this feature. It must be time-consuming.
