My Windows 7 LLx Template has just removed from Google Playstore for the copyright infringement reason.

Before uploading, I worried about that, so searched playstore by ‘windows 7’  and saw many Windows related apps.

My suspicion is that one(or all?) of my app logo(Windows logo+ligthning), MS’s wallpaper, or some desktop icons from Windows 7 might be the source of infringement.

Google didnt exactly tell me what elements was the reason.

Anyway, I’m thinking I upload with no Windows wallpaper, modifid logo, but with Windows desktop icons. Because I see many apps using Windows icons.

If my modified app is removed twice, my playstore account itself may be blocked. I’m worried 🙂

I’m worried → I will follow Google policy and not infringe copyright as possible as I can. I won’t be worried. 🙂

The time of writing this post, I thought it is necessary to embed Windows 7 icons(desktop, ie, music, etc.). But now, I changed my mind.

I will not include any Windows 7 related items, but instead link to zip file which has some icons.

End users will experience a little inconvenience for manually install it.

    But I think it’s inevitable.

Curtis Sylvester Jr.  Thanks  for your concern:)

    That’s a shame.

I believe that your application has not been unlisted by a human but a robot. Google Play is full of automated processes that mostly works, but from time to time they don’t work and nothing can be discussed. The only thing to do is just accept the verdict.

It might be that there are some copyright infringement (or not, I think this is more subtle than just icons) but there are indeed a lot of other crappy apps that deliberately infringe copyrights at a much higher level, including paid ones, without any added value. On the exact opposite of your theme.

Tread with care… Just followed the story on BlackBearBlanc, seems very tricky to understand what constitutes a TOS violation.

Pierre Héberti agree, how many of any same damn app do we need in the play store? volume controls, weather, compasses, screenshot apps, theres other windows themes in there too right now that have been there for at least a year. yet KyungJoon Lee here gets his theme removed. BULLSHIT
