So a while ago i played with Lucid Launcher and loved the Quick Browser feature but I love LLX even more so I started thinking of a way to get this feature in LLX at 1st I failed so I gave up but then I read a post about auto shortcut and Go to home and desktop position and it got me thinking so I started again and with help from Lutz Linke and KyungJoon Lee on how to use this feature i finally managed to get this done this wouldn’t have been possible without your help so cheers.

Its not as smooth/fast as Lucids because it uses a run shell Action to set the focus to the searchbar (which brings up the keyboard) if I take this out its lightning ๐Ÿ˜‰ fast but means I have to manually tap the searchbar to bring the keyboard up which I didn’t want.I chose bing instead of Google for 2 reasons 1.its black which helps save battery 2.I was having a weird problem with Google.Anyways checkout the video and if you want to try this or have any questions holla at me.

Things needed

Tasker

Lightning Launcher Extreme (Maybe possible with lightning Launcher Home)

A Rooted Device (Optional)

A decent phone I think (shown on a Note 3)

Try lucid launcher and it will make more sense. Its a full screen web browser on your home screen but its killed as soon as its out of sight.

Take a look at “Lucid Launcher (ALPHA)”

Its a Tasker Scene, web browser widgets don’t exist (closest you can get is a floating window as far as I’m aware) The advantages of this over a regular browser are 1.its fully customizable 2.its pretty much a ghost the only time its visible is when i swipe the screen soon as its closed and out of view its destroyed (no longer running) and I’m returned back to my default homescreen.it doesn’t show in the recent appswitcher.every time its visible it has the same homepage so its ready for a new search (which let’s me keep my actual browser homepage) Its difficult to explain and the video doesn’t really help especially with the animations I chose I’m limited to what i can have by tasker. If you try lucid launcher it should make a lot more sense.

Aaaaaw…. just youtube link, not embeded video, seems to be unsuccessful for grabbing users attention. ๐Ÿ™

Nice try and implementation, you made LL eat up another L(ucid)L.:)

And if we apply this, we might get Nexus5 Google laucher’s google voice(I don’t know exact name).

My guess of your implementation is:

    1. Disable desktop’s scrolling.

    2. Set a swipe action to Tasker shortcut.

    3. Tasker shortcut does serial actions.

    4(Tasker actions)

4-1. Autoshortcut plugin calls LLs action (go to specified desktop&position) shortcut in order to move to some page.

4.2. Open Tasker scene which embeds Webview

4.3 Run some shell which input to specific postion(search area) of display, in order to open soft keyboard.

Hmmm I could not guess how that animation effect of page 2 when swiping is implemented.. is it panel/folder or something LL animation?

After thinking of this implementation, I thought that if LL provides webview item and we can locate it in a page like normal app/shortcut/widget/panel/folder, how useful it is…

All correct ๐Ÿ™‚ the animation is a new feature of Tasker scenes. Unfortunately I can only have an animation when the scenes shown so the close animations from the system. I wanted a slide in slide out animation so it looked exactly like lucids but I can’t do that because there’s a slight delay before the scenes shown and it didn’t look good the way I did it its like a cross over so it takes the attention away from the delay while giving it some eye candy ๐Ÿ™ I did some research before I tryed this and according to stack overflow its not possible to show a webview as a widget.

I’m curious about the Nexus 5 Google voice thing though it can probably be done using LLX Tasker and Autovoice/auto contacts/auto/launch etc

Is the scene just the webview or did you make the search bar? If so, how?

The scenes just the webview however I originally wanted to make the searchbar using a textedit element for 2 reasons 1. I could make it look like however I wanted and 2 I could set the focus to it so It would bring up the keyboard and I could type instantly which means no run shell command is needed (which is very slow and needs root)

I can’t remember why I decided not to do that though :/
