It sometimes seems like people only think of Lightning Launcher as a good launcher for using Zooper Widgets. Does anyone know of any good themes/templates that don’t need Zooper?

(Next Post) Hello friends i want to make this homescreen.. »

Check out my last one. It has a zooper weather widget, but could easily be removed. If you have something in mind, I would even be willing to make something for you. My goal is make LLx themes free of other apps. I think the key is to use dynamic text and 9.pngs for folder, panel, and icon backgrounds. Just let me know, Im actually free this weekend and would be willing to help.

I’ll check it out, thanks Thomas. I don’t have any specific ideas that you could work on. I’ve tried to make a few on my own but I always end up with something that could be done on any launcher. That’s why I’ve been trying to check out what others have done to see what is possible.
Zooper does seem pretty cool by the way. I just wonder what Lightning Launcher is capable of by itself.

thomas greer I’ve been using Zooper, Autonotification and Tasker to create a digital clock widget and have been thinking about how to convert it to a pure LLX based item/folder. Here’s how the widget works:
– each digit on the 4-digit clock (HHMM) represents the time, but also an App (e.g H1 represents Dialer, H2 represents WhatsApp, M1 Hangouts, M2 Email)
– when an App receives a notification, the relevant digit changes color. when the notification is cleared, the digit’s color reverts to white
– when one clicks on each digit, it opens the assigned App
– when I run specific Tasker actions, it can replace the clock digits with new information, e.g. a 4-day weather forecast
– this allows for a minimal homescreen where the only item present is the widget, which performs the function of clock, notification counter, app launcher, weather forecast, etc. at the same time
any thoughts on how this can be achieved with dynamic text and LLX, with minimal lag?

Wern-Yuen Tan wow, what a cool idea, seems complex, but I think I could come up with everything but the color change and the weather forecast. I’d say the color change would be possible through tasker, scripting, or both. The weather forecast I think would only be possible with Zooper, UCCW, or alternate weather app. I hope one day many of the variables from Zooper are available in the dynamic text option, but I’ll wait for a more appropriate time to request for them. I’ll play around with your idea and see how far I can get!

I use tasker (and auto notification) for the color change and weather forecast (http get). What I’d like to do is just to circumvent zooper because it takes up RAM and is a single function app (unlike tasker and autonotification)

TrianguloY,is it possible to change the color of a single digit of dynamic text per notification?

Wern-Yuen Tan the way I would make the “hotspots” for the apps would be to add each app to the desktop, then uncheck the display text and icon option, and place them on top of their corresponding digit.
Josh Gray, I like your cards theme. The fact that you’ve been using it for a year+ is very impressive. I have an info theme that was a staff pick on homepack buzz that I used for almost that long. I’ve thought about reinventing it and some of my other themes for LLx, but I’ve just been having too much fun playing and experimenting with LLx to look back!

Whenever possible, I would encourage you to limit the use of widgets. A few of them is great, but too many will just slow down everything. Not that a bit slower is always a bad thing, but when it becomes frustrating this is not fun anymore.
thomas greer not at the moment, the label is monochromatic. However it is possible to draw text using script, and this way you can select a color for each letter (or even use gradients, outline and so on). Something else that could be done (and maybe this is a single line of code) would be to allow the use of html in the text label. This way you could even use bold, italic, underline, various font sizes. I will have a quick look at this.

There is also the great app kustom live wallpaper. You can create amazing live wallpapers with it. Only thing is that the touch events of kustom lwp still not working, but Pierre Hébert mentioned that he will make them possible to use in llx.

I hope for the 10.7 release to be exact.

I just checked out Kustom … really like where it is headed and if llx can pass touches and swipes to it that would be great, way more powerful than Zooper
What’s holding me back from diving in is the learning curve, so before I do that, Michael Rehbock could you share your experiences with responsiveness (e.g. passing Tasker variables) and battery life vs. Zooper for the same application? Zooper’s battery usage is fine for me but responsiveness is way poor (>500ms to act on Tasker variable change). Hoping Kustom exceeds both so we can all dump Zooper now that mycolorscreen has stopped development…

Michael Rehbock is klwp on the playstore? I didn’t find it.

Wern-Yuen Tan dang! It’s “not compatible” with my “device”. That’s why I couldn’t find it, play store blocked it from my search. Themer isn’t compatible either. I wonder why an app wouldn’t be compatible? The obvious reasons would be resolution and Android version. I wouldn’t think that to be the issue with either of these apps. Anybody have any ideas on this?
