You can use Settings | Desktop Settings | Events and Actions to choose an app (i.e. Google Now in this case) to run.
However, although I can get it working for a two finger swipe, it won’t work for me with a one finger swipe, even on the leftmost desktop.

Rishi Saran you could always download Google launcher to compare them, then uninstall it whim you’re fine with your testing.
