Is there something wrong with icon packs in LLX?
Is there something wrong with icon packs in LLX? the main reason I don’t adopt it as my launcher is that icons get all weird.
In the included pictures, the icons themed by the pack got small, and the other icons are bigger with an ugly border around. Am I doing anything wrong?

It’s probably because of the inner scale. Try to go to icons and adjust the inner scale to maybe 100%.

I tried that. But then the icon gets bigger and partially overlaps the borders of the rounded square.

This happens with every icon pack I tried. Maybe Unicon is a good way to solve it? No one else here uses icon packs?

The reason you get boarders around the icon is because the icon pack is missing that icon. You can talk to the developer to include that icon on their next update. To get rid of the boarder simply long tap the icon, customize item, copy style and tap on another icon. This way you will end up with the standard icon.

I think that copying other icons is the only solution. It’s really a good idea.
Other launchers can handle missing icons correctly without them getting weird like that.

I agree with Leonardo Bighi I’ve never had an icon pack look right with llx but work right with literally every other launcher (including the systems own). I’ve seen countless people asking about this and the answers are always the same.
with that said I just learn to either deal with it or just not bother with icon packs

Same happens for me, it’s obnoxious

For one reason or another, if there’s a mix of known and unknown icons, this happens. The scale for the known icons is set lower. When you set it back to 100 %, they’re Ok.
But I agree this shouldn’t happen. LLX has a strange, apparently wrong way of handling icons. Perhaps to be expected, it has a completely different approach to the gui as other launchers. Something Pierre could look at if he finds the time…

Bart Hoste yes llx is the only launcher that has scripting, the only launcher that uses mere kb and the only launcher that has a tasker plugin

I was thinking more about the screen approach. Unlimited scrolling, visible screen vs actual screen.
Yet, without judging Pierre, I have the gut feeling it can be solved. Strictly speaking, icon treatment doesn’t have to be connected to screen treatment, but I can be totally wrong. Only Pierre Hébert can answer this question. Apart from the fact IF it can be solved, there’s the question if it has priority above other things. Pierre Hébert, your expertise is needed here…

+Bart Hoste When you get them to 100% they’re not okay. They have no mask clipping shape. So if you have a round icon pack and put size at 100%, missing icons will be squared (or whatever shape they originally had) instead of round.
In other launchers, missing icons are “cropped” to a round shape.

That’s right. But you can change the little icons one by one. A lot of work, I know, but if it’s got to be perfect : no pain no gain…
It can be corrected, but with a lot of effort. It’s up to each one to decide if it’s worth it. Only Pierre can give a permanent solution.

“No pain no gain”… except in all other launchers in the Play Store. =P
I’m deciding between sticking to Nova (and losing all my cool Panels) or using the ugly default icons.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
That’s exactly my point. You have to choose between easy icon pack application or extreme customizability. Or be prepared to put an insane amount of work to get it right. I use nova from time to time but I keep returning to LLX.

I make my own icons to match themes or missing icon, it’s not that hard to do and takes as long as you want depending on how detailed you want it. I’ll stick with LLX.

Bart, the other option, which is the point of this thread, is to report it as a problem and to verify that it’s experienced by all users.

So i use Nova for years, i really want to try out LLX but can i use icon packs or not? Some have said they’ve had no problems, & then i read these comments… 😔 any help or ideas would b greatly appreciated.

It depends. If your icon pack has all the icons you want, there will be no problem. Or you can maybe change the icon of the app to the icon of another app that is included in the icon pack.
The problem here is that icon packs have masks and backgrounds to try and style missing icons, but LLX doesn’t work well in that case. Missing icons look very bad in LLX.

I’ve had this happen with some icon packs before too. I just apply it twice and it fixes itself (home screen and app drawer)
Try that and see how it works for you.
