First create a folder, open the folder, open the settings for the window of the folder,

Set the horzontal alignment to “right” and the vertical alignment to “top”.

Setup the width and height of the folder. The width for example, the half of your phone screenwidth. The height should set to your phone screenheight.

Set the open animation to “slide to left”, and the close animation to “slide to ride”.

Enter in layout settings (columns) the same width of the folder width.

Enter a value , maybe 10, for the amount of lines. More lines = more Apps to place, but maybe you have to resize the AppIcons.

Now place your favorite Apps in the folder and arrange them.

After you have finished your settings, your folder will open as sidebar by tapping the foldericon on your desktop. You can also open the folder by a swipe gesture. If you like to hide the foldericon, place it outside the visible area of your desktop. I have just one screen with vertical and horizontal scrolling disabled. All my folders/sidebars will be opened with gestures.(just a hint). Good luck, building your sidebar!
